Your New Role
The Art Director is a hands-on creative with proven experience elevating big brands, responsible for shaping and executing the visual and user experience (UX) direction for our entertainment industry media brand. Reporting to the Brand Director, you’ll be instrumental in driving ideation and creative strategy, championing the big idea that unites campaigns, content, and brand experience across all touchpoints. You’ll demonstrate excellence in brand building, having contributed to the growth or evolution of major brand identities. In this role, you’ll lead design projects from concept through completion, collaborate closely with the marketing and content team, provide guidance and feedback to the Designer, and provide guidance and visual branding recommendations to the Video Producer, Video Editor, and Social Media Manager to maintain creative quality and consistency throughout all brand communications.
What you’ll be working on
- Lead and execute visual design projects from initial concept through final delivery, leveraging best practices from major brand environments to build and strengthen our brand presence.
- Proactively bring new design ideas, animation concepts, and motion treatments to life that elevate the brand’s visual storytelling and distinguish it within the competitive media landscape.
- Apply expertise in visual brand building, creating and evolving style guides, design systems, and new brand concepts, ensuring long-term consistency and differentiation.
- Create website layouts, wireframes, and interactive prototypes in Figma to enhance UX and support digital first experiences.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing, content, editorial, and video teams to ensure cohesive visual storytelling, platform-native formatting, and integrated campaign execution.
- Provide actionable design feedback to the Designer, and freelancers, supporting the Brand Director in maintaining high standards across all deliverables.
- Deliver compelling presentations to stakeholders that communicate design strategy, creative concepts, and the rationale behind key ideas.
- Stay current with design, UX, and digital media trends to ensure the brand remains innovative and ahead of industry developments.
- Foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment that promotes continuous improvement and creative excellence.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the Media Site team.
A little bit about you and your qualifications:
- 5 + years of experience as an Art Director or Senior Designer within entertainment or media industries, digital marketing, or affiliate-driven businesses.
- Demonstrated success working for large, recognizable brands or playing a key role in brand building initiatives.
- Is strategic in their creative approach and excels in driving creative executions and ideas.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in branding, UX/UI design, web design, and creative storytelling.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma (wireframes, prototypes, design systems) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, knowledge of motion tools preferred for handoffs for video).
- Demonstrated success driving branding, UX, and big ideas in digital environments and websites.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback, mentor creative staff, and collaborate closely across roles including design, video, and social media.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration abilities, including pitching “the big idea” to clients and stakeholders.
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills for managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of responsive/mobile-first design, current digital trends, and modern visual standards.
- Familiarity with CMS systems and how design elements integrate into editorial workflows (especially in a headless CMS environment) is preferred.
- Familiarity with design systems, agile workflow tools like Jira, and basic HTML/CSS is a plus.
- Experience with motion graphics, video editing, offline print, and agency settings is preferred.
